MGCHSA sponsors a number of activities to provide academic, athletic, and social enrichment throughout the year. Participation in our sponsored activities requires active membership in MGCHSA. These opportunities are one of the ways we provide extra value to our member families. Watch our newsletter for details on activity schedules, meeting times, and current happenings. Our current list of activities includes:
Mock trial is a national level competitive activity for students ages 14-19. It allows students to develop a host of skills including research, critical thinking, public speaking, and acting while participating in head-to-head competition with teams from other schools in a courtroom setting. Sponsored in Georgia by the Young Lawyers Division of the Georgia Bar Association, this activity provides far more than just an introduction to courtroom law. A Joyful Sound Chorus provides an opportunity for middle school and high school students to develop their talents and love of music. The chorus performs at association events as well as at local gatherings and venues to spread the love of Christ through music. They are lead by Mrs. Robin Henning and accompanied by Mrs. Lisa Johnson. Practices are on Friday afternoons from 1:00-2:30 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Macon. If you have questions about chorus, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Youth Baseball and Softball
The youth baseball and softball activity is designed to provide a non-threatening "learning" environment for children to develop a love of physical activity, social interaction, and the game. The activity also provides a spirit of friendly competition and a great opportunity for families to get together and enjoy fellowship at the ballpark. Spring 2017 planning is underway.
The activities we are able to offer depend completely on the willingness of volunteers to organize and lead. We are always looking to add more activities and to resurrect opportunities that we have offered in the past. If you are interested in organizing or leading an activity, please contact the Board of Directors at email@example.com.
One of the biggest highlights of each school year is the MGCHSA graduation ceremony, where we recognize the achievements of both our graduating seniors and the parents and family members who taught, supported, and encouraged them along the way. For more information on graduation, please contact Mrs. Cheryl Joiner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This fun night filled with friends, fellowship, and dancing, prom is a special night for all who attend. This dance is for any homeschool student age 14 years and up and his/her guest. Senior lead-out recognizes our seniors and their achievements. At prom, we aim to have clean music, modest attire and an abundance of laughter and dancing. For more information, please contact Mrs. Ramona Hartman at email@example.com.
